Young Kennedy Supporters Use Web to Gain Political Voice
www.generationkennedy.ca Provides Forum for Discussion, Ideas


Toronto, ON - Young supporters of Liberal leadership candidate Gerard Kennedy today launched www.GenerationKennedy.ca to provide an online forum for the exchange of ideas in support of Liberal Party renewal and Kennedy's leadership candidacy.

"Young people from across the country are looking for ways to show their support and contribute to Gerard Kennedy’s campaign. GenerationKennedy.ca is about increasing the dialogue between Kennedy and young Canadians. It is also a proactive way for youth to get involved and claim ownership within the political process," said Marek Krasula a young Quebecer who decided to support Gerard Kennedy's bid to lead and renew the Liberal Party.

The website will present policy, campaign developments and convention information in a dynamic and engaging manner designed to promote interaction between Kennedy and youth supporters. Features include a section for weekly guest bloggers and an interactive Policy Forum to follow shortly.

GenerationKennedy.ca is an innovative initiative within the Liberal Leadership Race. It is the first website of any candidate that is created, operated and maintained by youth for youth.

"The motivation for creating a youth-driven website was modeled on Gerard's history of rolling up his sleeves to make a difference. We decided to create a space that youth could call their own and make it such that their voices could cause a real impact and have a real say in Gerard's bid for leader," said the campaign's national youth director Perry Tsergas. "We've seen how one person can motivate many and that's our goal - to communicate to everyone that under Gerard's leadership, young people can play a meaningful role in reshaping the Liberal Party into a 21st Century political party."

Kennedy commented, "Youth are the driving force in reshaping the Liberal Party. They represent the future of Canada, so it's very exciting to see groups like Generation Kennedy finding innovative ways to raise their voices and participate in the political process."
